i just bought another abit kt7-raid with a t-bird 1gig processor... i have 256mb of micron pc133 ram too... fun fun..

is it worth overclocking at all? if so, how should i do this one in bios and or on the hardware itself? what results have you folks seen witht this combo? ALSO, what should my bios settings be with this mem and chip at stock speeds?? lol.. i dont even know what i should enable/disable with this rig..lol.

not fans and stuff, i already got cooling down to a science! :)

thanks.

The KT7 has a multiplier of all the way up to 12X, so, 1.2 GHz would be the limit without getting into modifications on the mobo.

I have a 1 ghz with a MSI Pro 2 A. Took it up to 1250 with multiplier then backed it off to 1200 and upped FSB to 104. Seems to be pretty stable. Haven't done a lot of testing yet.

Not necessarily, you can also overclock the FSB, although you probably won't it stable at more than 110MHz FSB at any multiplier. That's the KT133 chipset. But if your chip can handle the 12x110 ratio, you would end up with 1320MHz :)

I've tested and sold some 1GHz Tbirds at 1.35GHz. Ask John..he has one of my beauties. :)

These were tested on MSI K7T Pro2 at 12.5 x 108 :)

Now, while many of my week 48 did this, my week 51's would not break 1200, or not by much.

In answer to your question, "Is it worth overclocking..."

I would have to answer with a resounding YES
You could safely take it up to 1.2GHZ without having to up the voltage too far (provided you have a chunky cooler!) :)

since he's thinking about it, then he won't go far wrong on learning how to close the L1 bridges with the pencil trick should he decide to give it a go!
