Is it worth it to use Dynamat or Cascade VB-2 to try to make your case quieter?

I did a search for Dynamat and Cascade that yidlded nothing on this topic.

Any of you guys have experience with using a damping material in your case? Is it worth it? Does it help quieten the case any?

I've found some Cascade VB-2 for about twenty bucks, and I thought about ordering it if it would help with sound damping. I just want a nice, quiet case.

I know Dynamat makes Dynamat Xtreme specifically for computers, but it's a bit more costly than the Cascade product. I would guess that the same results would be achieved with either product. I just need to know if there will be any worth while results to gain from using either one.

Thanks

as far as I have Heard the Dnyamat is added for weight to dedden sound in cars but useless when it comes to Puters. I heard brown Bread was ok though.

2Cooltek has sonex acoustical foam. I smacked some in (2 panels for PC60)... non-conductuive and temp rated to several hunny degrees. Quieted down a lot of the higher frequency noises (drive noise etc...)

http://www.partsexpress.com 4.5 square feet of the stuff. If you need more, they have 13.9 sq feet for about $55 or so. I think 4.5 square feet would be more than enough for a case.

I saw that last night as a matter of fact. I might try that.

I'm just looking for some ways to quieten the ol' PC up a bit.

Haven't used the sonex stuff, so I can't comment about it. Dynamat and similar just stop the case from acting as a sounding board for the other noisy components. If that's your problem, then it will help. If your problem is screaming fans, the only answer is lower noise lower cfm fans. Best to stop noise at the source, don't make it in the first place.

To lower noise from the airflow of the fans, you can start with cutting away the pre-fab grills. Then rubber-grommet mount your fans.

7volts for all your PC quieting needs ;)
