Is it worth it to sell stuff you don't need online?

I specifically mean my old computer stuff. Everything I have, if I try to sell it I'm out the shipping, and the things I really want to get rid of weigh a lot (like older cases) or will need desent sized boxes (motherboards).

Should I just donate to a shool or something? Can I make it a tax writeoff?

Yes, I'd like my $15 shipping on top of the $15 value of an old, case. Anyone willing to pay $30 for a $15 case? $25? $20? Maybe a taker for like $18, so would I bother for that amount of money? Plus I'm out of peanuts, and don't have many boxes. Go to a mail box place, and they charge like $5-$12 to box and pack any random item..

Am I missing something on how an indivdual should send stuff, or is it in the end not worth it?

you can try selling it online to people that live within your city. if you are in a big city like la, it shouldn't be too hard..

It's worth selling if you think you can get a reasonable price. Otherwise, it's not worth the effort and you should just donate it.

School maybe? Where's a good place that I can donate to for a tax writeoff? Preferrably an overly large tax writeoff.

You may be able to get a good price on mbds, processors, hard drives and video cards. I usually sell my old stuff as soon as I upgrade and it makes upgrading much cheaper.
