Is it worth it to "lap" a socket golden orb?

The reason I ask is because the bottom looks pretty rough. Has anybody tried it? If you did what grit paper did you use and did it help?

you would use the same method as lapping a ppga (not fcpga) celeron...

start rough, and continue with finer grits, and ending with like 2000 grit...
