Is it worth hooking up a 5BNC-HD15 cable to my sony Monitors???

I use the standard cables for both my sony monitors. Is it worth hooking up a 5BNC-HD15 cable to my monitors.

Sometimes with my standard cabling my monitor flickers a different shade which has something to do with the connection on the back of the monitor because if I jiggle it the problem is solved. This would be the main reason I'd go for the BNC cables & If it improves the picture quality it would be an added bonus.

How big is the monitor? At what resolution do you run?

BNC connection have (in previous related threads) been shown to have increased quality and what not when used for monitors running higher resolutions.

and if your VGA cable is actually loose or not making good contact, then there's NO reason not to switch over to bnc

only downfall is you lose plug and play ability for the monitor...but just install the monitor with the vga cable plugged in, then switch over to bnc!

there's really no reason not too, and you can find HD15-5BNC cables pretty cheap. i got one for less than 15 bucks and have been using it for years on one of my monitors.

Actually, poor quality VGA-5BNC cables will make the quality worse. However, in general, the tendency is if you get reasonably good VGA-5BNC cables, it'll make a slight image quality improvement at high resolutions.

This being said, sometimes if you contact the manufacturer, they'll send you BNC cables for free. I know Nokia did. 🙂

I used both VGA-VGA and VGA-5BNC cables on my Sony F500-R and the VGA-5BNC cables did make a slight improvement at 1600x1200 to 2048x1536 resolutions.

I've seen some monitors connected both ways...honestly, I could only tell a difference when the monitor resolution was jacked higher than usual...all in all, the BNC cables tend to produce better text but that's just my opinion.
