Is it worth getting an lcd w/ a dead pixel, even if it is much cheaper?

My current situation is getting a 20" dell widescreen with 1 dead pixel for about 100 bucks cheaper than most places. Worth it? Unfortunatly, the dead pixel is near the middle of the screen and looks kinda of grey.

i wouldn't recoment it as it is something you are gonna see every time you use the computer.. but it is up to you.. have a look at it and see how noticable it is...

personally i think i would find it annoying and would rather spend the extra $100

I myself wouldn't but I got some sort of a OCD when it comes to how stuff works/looks. Question is can you live with it? Who knows you might get a brand new one with a crap load of dead pixels but you can always get it replaced. Does that one have warranty? If not that alone might be worth the extra $100?

its a subdead pixel, greyish near the center of the screen (sucks!) price to get it is about 320ish. anyone here who would recommend getting it?

If it's near the center, I would say spend the extra money.

I had a laptop with a dead pixel near the center of the screen and it was VERY annoying.

Depends on the price..

I have 3 dead pixels on one of my 2005's.. They are NOT visible except when looking VERY closey to the monitor on solid black.. Partly because of the resolution..

If the price is right, I woudl have no problem accepting a stuck pixel on a 1600x1200 screen..

Had a couple dead pixels on a 19" Viewsonic VX910, that are much more apparent because of the lower res.

For $100...na. No. Worth pondering for a second, but really not worth it if it is in the center of the screen and a greyish color. Grey is bad cause you will see it in most backgrounds.

I have a VP201 with a dead pixel, and I would have exchanged it, but they are such hassles to return (most places I know only have 1 or 2 in stock) so I decided to just keep it. However, this is mainly because (a) the dead pixel is in the upper right corner, near where the minimize window button is -- so the dead pixel really becomes irrelavant; (b) because it is reddish and doesn't appear on dark background (which is what I almost always have). Though nobody notices the DP, it still bugs me from time to time though, just because I know where it is.

If it weren't those two reasons, I would have just got my money back.
