I am building a new computer and I'm wondering what would be best; use the ps2 as my dvd player for movies using mt 27" tv or getting a dvd drive for a computer that will have a 19" monitor.

Thanks

A DVD-ROM was probably one of the biggest wastes. I've watch 1 1/2 movies on it before I realized that a 19" monitor and 4 speakers doesn't compare to a 32" TV with 600W of Dolby Digital surround sound.

DVD-ROM are certainly not worth it.
I have used it maybe 3-4 time for DVD's.

I agree, I watched matrix but then I decided my chair at the computer wasnt as comfy as the couch. I sold it a couple days later.

Hmmmm I paid $50 for my first 5X DVD Drive and a H+ decoder card. I thoroughly enjoy watching my dvds on my 27" TV while surfing the computer. So well worth it that all my computers have a dvd drive in them and there are TVs within 10 feet of all of them

DVD ROM sucks, espeically my IDE Toshiba wastes so much CPU just reading stuff. I only have it so I can divx DVD's. I use my 40X Plextor CD-ROM for everything else

my dvdrom drive has been great for me, being a college kid and all. Can't afford a big tv, can't have loud noise coming from a monster home theater system, and no room for a couch in this tiny ass apartment. So my 19inch monitor and dvdrom has gotten me through my movie needs.
