Is it worth getting a 360 now?

Now that the new Premium has the Elite motherboard is it worth getting? Does that make it more reliable? I have no interest in getting something that might crap out and I have to send in.

The Zephyrs have the extra epoxy to at least slow down the solder cracking, but the Elites haven't been out long enough to know how much more reliable they are than the old Premium.

Mass Effect isn't out yet, so I'm still waiting for Falcon.

not too sure on this one.

Yes, extra heat sink and reportedly the quieter DVD drive too (though not confirmed in every one yet).

If you can bear it, I'd hold off until it has been confirmed that the Falcon 360s are on store shelves, and you have a way of identifying one when you buy. The Falcon should be quieter, cooler, and less failure prone.

the newer hardware definitely has changes that indicate MS is at least trying to solve their problems...although it will probably take the 65nm processor before consumer confidence is restored. That being said...I wouldn't be able to wait that long to get one. With all the incredible games coming out this fall...it would hard not to jump on one now. If you played the Bioshock demo...I think you'd be heading to the store immediately following...

wait until you can get the 65 nm gpu & cpu. Supposedly only the cpu is being upgraded at this time, which is not the real problem. It's the GPU overheating, hence the additional heatsink they have on it right now. I recently bought an elite, with the heatsink and hitachi drive (it's quiet, and have heard its the newer hitachi drives) But the games coming out this month and next month (halo 3) is well worth the risk IMO. If it breaks, i got my fry's warranty , which allows me to replace it for a new one. Give best buy a try, they have an awesome replacement plan.

I'm waiting to pick one up. Right now there's not much out that interests me but Halo 3 and Bioshock might be changing that soon. I'm hoping the updates will solve the heat issues for good.
