Is it worth buying a Nforce 2 motherboard right now?

I dunno if it's worth buying a nforce 2 mobo right now or wait for the faster Nforce 2 mobo to come out. Should I wait to see how the Ultra 400 Nforce 2 mobo and KT600 is going perform? I wanna build a system that will last me for a while and I don't have to worry about upgrading much.

Keep this thread up, I like to hear your thoughts, thanks!

If I didn't have an immediate need for a computer now, I'd wait until the end of the year. The Athlon 64 should be out and dispersed fairly well by then. Prices on XPs and MPs should drop quite a bit when it comes out (I hope). By then you'll also know what you need for Doom3 and HL2 because they'll be out.

The nForce2 Ultra 400 is out. The KT600 could be interesting. Both boards will do you good, they partically support the same processors/memory, so one wont be more upgradeable than the other.
I was going to get a nForce2 mobo and mem to replace my ancient KT133A, but ive decided to wait till early next year, as by then the new AMD and Intel Platforms with the new socket types will be out.

The recent review I saw where they pitched together Pentium 4 3.2GHz (on both 875P and 845P) vs. AMD 3200+ (on both nForce2 and a new KT600) showed pretty poor results for KT600... :frown:

Hopefully it was just faults of the engineering sample? Otherwise it looks like KT600 is just a slightly improved KT400...

Just picked up my 8rda+ today...

There is still some life left in the boards.... :D

Have fun, they are cheap!
