is it within your legal right to mine your lawn?

Don't forget to add some barbed wire and a few motion sensor machine guns.

Uhh.... no. Just because you own the land, doesn't mean you own the zoning permits if that land is in a zoned area. Residential areas are zoned residential. You own the land, but that doesn't mean you can do whatever the hell you want with it.

I don't believe so... I mean it's certainly not a "right" but that doesn't mean it's necessarily against the law.

No and any attempt to do so will get you bent over by the ATF.

you would get sued

you might get away with it in louisiana, as i recall their laws for home protection are very liberal (meaning you are fairly safe in killing people on your own property)

Mine as in...excavate? Mine as in...landmine?

First landmine, then excavate.

Sounds like fun.

This is the efficient way because the exploding landmines will do the excavating for you!

Since you can be sued if someone trips over a crack in your poorly maintained driveway, I'd assume setting up landmines, bear-traps, pits with sharp sticks in them, etc are probably frowned upon.

Assuming you live in a suburbs, that is. Move to the country, put up some signs and have a blast.

Yes, it is against the law to mine your front yard.

That could vary by state or municipality

Well, boobytraps (sp?) are illegal in Colorado, and I'm willing to bet its the same in most of the other states....

It is against FEDERAL law to own destructive devices. Landmines are part of that classification. You would need a special federal permit.

a moat would fall under what rules there are for fences i would think, so if you aren't part of a HOA that forbids fences, i think you could go with a moat

probably not alligators though

unless you are in FL and they natually habitate your moat
