Is it smart?? Will the performance difference be so big that i just have to buy it later on (for about the same price as SDRAM will have) and get rid of my motherboard and my SDRAM?

Or can i just use the SDRAM for a long time from now and not suffer severly in performance quality compared to a DDR RAM and DDR mobo combo?? And do any of u know about how the price difference would be??It would be too bad to have to buy SDRAM for the same amount of cash as DDR RAM and knowing that DDR RAM is WAYYY better and faster...

I am looking at SDRAM prices now on PriceWatch. Although I haven't been following closely, the prices seen to be at the lowest levels of the year (maybe).

Right now, there is not a full DDR system that you can put together. Yes, DDR RAM is available, but I don't think any motherboard commercially exists to stick it in. With Intel announcing more delays, our only hope may be AMD. And the consensus seems to be that AMD's 760-based wares won't be available until 2001 Q1.

Therefore, if you can last 4 months or so with your current system, there's no need to buy now. But, a solid working system is an investment that can offer good returns if you decide to sell in the future.
