Is it true the x800 xl cards dont need a pci-e power adapter?

from pictures at newegg they do not have a slot for the extra power connector 🙂

no they dont need the extra power connector, the PCI E slot provides all the juice they need

but a review i saw here shows 3 x800xl's and the power color card has the power connector, this isnt needed but in turn it helps the power color card achieve a much higher overclock

Most do not. I have the ATI card and it does not but I can't speak for every variation from other vendors.

I believe only the Powercolor requires an external power connection.

If it has a 6 pin connector, YOU WILL NEED JUICE.

The computer will not completely boot and you'll get a nice message from your Powercolor telling you it needs more power.

the power connectors usually come with the card if needed, no need to go out and buy one.
