Eh, even with DSL and cable a lot of people don't have a static IP so that would be pretty stupid of Valve, wouldn't it?

Meh... I've been browsing the forums for a week, reading all the threads from the complete BONEHEADS who post in OT without any way to shove it in their faces that they're fvcktarded. I'm surprised the pent-up explosion didn't crack the foundation of my house, but AT doesn't have a tool to make the word bold, highlighted, AND set their computers on fire, so I gotta make do with what I have I guess.

Uh, no. The whole point of OT is a dumping ground for everything that doesn't fit into any other catagory on Anandtech. This isn't friggin OffTopic.com. This isn't omgIhavenocommonsense.net. This isn't yagt.org.
 
I've never figured out how something can be in the wrong forum in OT. Even if there is a forum for it, everyone knows that there are different audiences per each place. Maybe he's just trying to get the ATOT audience since we're the smartest.

The audience for other forums dwindles so much because nobody friggin enforces the difference between the forums, trying to keep them separate. AT could save some money by dumping all the forums into OT and doing away with all the others (buying a smaller version of FT). From all the advertising dumped into FT, it seems that they need more and more money anyway. Hey, I'm just trying to help with suggestions!

I saw this on a gaming website, forget what the link is ... they would most likely ban the account and cd-key for any games registered on that account, not the IP. Good idea IMO .. people should be paying for this awesome game.
