.........as loud as a Blowdryer on "HIGH" ??

Thinking about purchasing one & wanted to get an idea if this was just an overly
drastic term being used or is it that people are whiners today & can't take the noise .

It is VERY loud. Especially when you turn it on the first time and the lights in your house go dim:) I just ordered a taisol CGK742092 to replace it with cause I couldn't take it anymore!!

Yes they have that sweet Vacuum Cleaner sound! My wife hates it but I told her without it we have no computer period. Overclocked to the MAX that is!

Replace that 60mm fan with an 80mm fan and a duct. You noise will go away and you temp will go down. My wife said "no way" with the 60mm on my Alpha. lol

I have two in my system running 24 hours. Doesn't bother me. For something like this the only good thing to do is get one and try it for a week r two.

I want to shake the hand of the person that can sleep in the same room as the Fop38.
It is IMPOSSIBLE (unless you are under general anesthetics :D)

Anyone who says they are as loud as a hair dryer on high is full of it, unless they have some pretty quiet dryers. I put mine inside my old case to see and yes its loud, maybe even unbearable for many, but its not as loud as a hair dryer.

I went in to a vendor and asked to hear the FOP38, and it has an annoying high pitched whine.. Not something I could tolerate for long periods of time. I wound up getting a Thermaltake Volcano II instead, although I think I shall replace it in a couple of weeks with a more powerful cooling solution, like a Taisol CGK or a Alpha PAL6035.

<< as loud as a Blowdryer on "HIGH" ?? >>

Yes and No. The tone/pitch is similar to a Hair Dryer (which is what makes it annoying for me), but it's not as loud, no. It is very loud though.
