I have a PIII Katmai running at 578 :) (not a speed demon, but im hoping to achieve around 700)and i cant change the multiplier settings in BIOS. Why? Is there another way to past that point? Is there a way to phisically do something to the chip to "unlock" it?

Another problem i have is that my FSB setting are preset for me
Eg. 105/33, 110/35, 115/37, 120/35...or something respectively to that

Im assuming the 2nd number is the PCI speed (running originally at 33mhz, right?) If the speed increades beyond 35mhz my windows freezes and in need to reboot. is that because i got $hit ram, or is it just because some device i got hoocked up inside dosent like the sped increasement, or both? My problem is that i )CAN'T set the FSB speed manually (i cant have 117mhz speedn for example) I would like to have FSB set to around 120 or a bit more with the PCI speed under 35 cuz then my comp shouldnt freez.

One more thing... Just as a test i went to 140/35 setting and restarted the comp and i dint do anything, not even a beep. I had to turn off the master swtch cuz the power button didnt work....why did that happen........because my ram sux and it can only run at 100mhz and a bit beyond?

I know this is a long post but i know someone has GOOD DETAILED answers.....
Thanks PPL!

ToXiCRaGE - did you read my response in your other thread???

The only other thing that might be the case is that you have what they call an "engineering sample" of your processor that's not multiplier locked.
