Is it true that once something you enjoy becomes a job, you hate it?

I was thinking that maybe I don't want to be an EE and I want to be photographer because I enjoy that.

But then I remembered when I used to enjoy wiring stuff up and now it's a pain in the ass, and so I'm afraid if I become a photographer, I'll hate photography. . .

what do you think?

i think it depends.... i can see how that is true though, even in my own life. some things are fun because you can just do it whenever you have spare time. they get less fun when you have a deadline to meet, and *have* to do it.

quite true... but you acquire new loves :)
I used to be a student for a job and love computers, now I'm a computer nerd for a job that loves cars.
Everything works out if you're patient enough.

I used to LOVE working on computers, admin'ing a network, and dreamed of webdesign

Now I DREAD it everyday and I even get sick of my own box

In some cases yes. Although hate is really too strong of a word. It is more that you kind of get bored with it since it is all you do.

LOL, that's exactly me. I found AT because I used to love computers, but damn now I hate fighting with these stupid machines.

oh well, atleast I picked a lucrative major. If nothing else, I'll make a comfortable living being miserable :D

Yup... That's why have am going into computer networking or programming... no technician type stuff for me. I have fixed too many damn computers for free it's not funny. Working with kickass Cisco equipment though is a whole new ball-game that a hobbyist can't do at their home (unless they are rich and have a huge ass pipe!).

Well, not exactly. My main hobby is computers, and I am a network administrator. Yes, of course, I would love to never deal with another (L)user again :) But, I promised myself, if I ever start hating the job and can't stand even thinking about computers, I will find a new line of work. Mostly because computers is my hobby and I don't want to start hating it.

I think that it depends, I have done computers for years and years I sometimes get fed up with the office politics and really stupid customers but other than that I have really enjoyed it. I think sometimes if you don't take the time to relax and find a hobby outside of what you love to do you can get burned out on it.

I find that I enjoy it more.
Never was very fond of programming, but now that I do it for a living, it's growing on me.

I used to hate teaching people, but when I got a job as a teaching assistant at my school, it turned out to be pretty cool.

A lot of it depends on the work environment and your boss...my boss's have always let me explore and have fun, so I'm constantly learning more and keeping things interesting for me.
