Is it true that Limewire 4.8 has a trojan + 2 keyloggers?!..

Hi,

I read somewhere that LimeWire (doesn't say which version) has a trojan + 2 keyloggers?! Is this true?! Apparently most spyware programs would miss them, except for Yahoo AntiSpy. Could everybody who has Limewire 4.8 please install Yahoo AntiSpy and see if there really are any trojans or keyloggers?! Also if there is any other crap installed or changes/additions in the registry?!

Somewhere else I also read that there could be a dlder.exe file installed which would also be a trojan or something. It would also leave stuff in the registry.

Anybody who can give clear instructions how you can get rid off all the trojans/keyloggers/spyware and stuff in the registry while still being to use LimeWire, a complete list of what should be removed?! Would it be better to use alternatives like Aquawire, or could these also still contain some spyware or whatever?!

Also, is it true that LimeWire takes (much?!) bandwidth, even if you turn off sharing in LimeWire?! And when you close LimeWire, does it really close or does it still make connection to the internet?!

Is it also true that it takes alot of memory resources? Will it slow down my old PC with only 64MB RAM alot?!

I know some will recommend not to use those programs, but I really need to use LimeWire cause there are audio samples on there (I make music) that I really need, so anybody can please give full instructions how to clean up all the crap that may come with Limewire 4.8?!

Thanks alot! 🙂

I find it hard to believe that Ad-aware, Spybot, and MS Antispyware would all miss something that only Yahoo AntiSpy would pick up.

If 4.8 is such a bad thing, just use an older version of Limewire. It's not necessary to upgrade to the latest version as the older ones work fine.

Everybody sure LimeWire 4.8 has no trojans/keylogger/anything? Does it install "dlder.exe"? What about your registry? etc..

Also, anybody can tell more about LimeWire taking (much?!) bandwidth, even if you turn off sharing in LimeWire?! And when you close LimeWire, does it really close or does it still make connection to the internet?! Anybody checked that?

And what does it do to your memory? Will my older PC with 64MB get in trouble?

Anybody can give more info about all this please?!

Limewire will still be connected after you exit if the little green icon is showing on the taskbar (down near the clock). You'll need to close it using this icon to be completely disconnected.

I've got Limewire v4.2 that I haven't used in a while. I just started it up and Task Manager shows it uses about 40MB of RAM (no file sharing).

40MB of RAM when not sharing.. seems alot.. why does this program need so much.

Anybody could check if with 4.8 there is dlder.exe or any other trojan installed?! So little replies, I thought alot more people used P2P programs like LimeWire?! Should I aks on another forum about this?!!

PS: anybody knows a good simple freeware program that shows how much memory each program is using?! I still have a PC here with Win95 and task manager doesn't show this kind of info.
