... butter their bread before putting peanut butter on it? If so, nasty.

For that matter, is peanut butter an acceptable toast/bread schmear in parts of the world other than Canada and the States?

Butter adds flavor, so I don't see the problem.

And I do like butter/jelly combo, though I've never tried peanut butter and butter.

Really, many baked goods have butter in them anyway. And butter isn't that different from oil present in peanut butter.

Always, always apply butter/margarine before peanut butter. But from what I have heard, 'peanut butter' in the states is some sweet, sugar-laden monstrosity, where here it is a savory item.

I don't eat peanut butter on toast very often (toasted english muffin anyway) but when I do I always butter it first and then apply the peanut butter. It is best this way.

See, I find that rather disgusting. You are essentially double-buttering your toast.

The peanut butter I'm eating right now has 1g of sugar per 1tbsp (15g). So, barely any at all. 67g of sugar for 1kg of peanut butter.

PB&J or PB is sooooooo much better on an untoasted bread vs toasted..

So Brits force-spread the both cold butter on the cold bread before PB?
