ive heard that too but i wouldn't worry about it
i've xferred too many times between amex, discover, capital one and more to keep my $5-6000 balance @ 0%.
i just bought a brand new car, mazda6 2003. and my credit rating came out to be 780 (out of 820) which is just excellent (able to get the lowest APR rates hence)

Not that I know of, still busting 750+ and doing some great load balancing on the credit.
