Is it true intel's clockspeed = AMD XX00?

My friend is pretty much saying a amd x2 4200+ should be compared to as a Intel 4.2 GHz (wth, dual core vs single).

Along with and AMD 3200+ should be compared to a Intel P4 3.2 GHz,

So in this case.

AMD 3200+ = Intel P4 3.2 GHz

You think its true?
I doubt it.

An A64 3200+ should be compared to a 3.2GHz Preshot but the X2 4200 should not be compared to a 4.2GHz clock speed presshot. it's generally compared to the 840.

Thats why PR ratings suck.

The 3200+ Barton K7 core doesn't hold a light to the 3200+ K8 core chips or 3.2Ghz Northwood/Prescott/Cedar Mill. What about Dothan/Yonah? A 3800+ X2 is about equivalent to a 1.8-2.0Ghz Yonah. I'd rather be dealing with an obscure numbering system like nvidia/ATI/Intel.

I think AMD xx00+ should be compared to intel ghz, but + or - 400mhz. So a 3200+ Athlon 64, depending on the application, performs as well as a P4 2.8ghz to P4 3.6ghz. (tending more up than down though)

But a 3200+ barton beats a 3.06ghz P4. It's not really any different than the mhz, as the mhz doesn't mean anything as the chipset, memory, or architecture changes. Nowadays a 2.4ghz p4 can often outperform than 3.06ghz 533fsb p4 due to virtue of faster memory, fsb, and better chipset.
