Hmm, I suppose it's possible... but termites are huge compared to most ants, so it would seem rather unlikely.

Most ants are scavengers, they won't seek out things to kill.

Ants are actually larger than termites (their cousins). The soldier termites are huge but the average termite is small.

Ants and termites fight all the time. Usually the ants win if they are very aggressive.

army ants are brutal.

The form brigades and come at you in waves. The captain ants always hang out in the background and the grunts have to go in and do the dirty work. be careful.

We live on a slab and the slab cracked under our hardwood floors. This cause the boards to separate along this crack. We started getting ants coming in right around where the boards were split, about a month or two later we noticed our hardwoods were being lunch for termites. So I guess the ant's didn't eat them. But, I know that termites have warriors to fend off ants and other predators. I guess the ants would probably eat the workers given the chance.

Looking back, maybe I shouldn't have killed the ants. Maybe they would have taken care of them.

In Eastern Oregon, there are fire ants(I guess thats what they are.. the front half is black, the back half is red).. when they're disturbed, they squirt this pungent stuff out of their ass.. it literally takes your breath away.. its crazy.

Yes, it's entirely true. It's interesting to watch. The soldier termites will spray the ants with their goo, but that hardly slows them down. The ants pile on and rip the legs off the termites, then section them into little bits and carry them off.

Some types of ants will raid other insect colonies in the area including termite colonies, however if those ants decide to move in you will be in worse shape than with the termites. In some parts of central and south america army ants have been known to enter buildings. The people there don't mind since the ants leave when they are done and the also kill and eat any other insect or pest that lived in the building.

That sounds familiar.
