I've read similar stories about the MSI boards rolling over within a year. Well... mine will have its first birthday in 2 months and so far I have no regrets or complaints. I did have a problem with an occasional failed POST when it was new but a BIOS flash corrected the error. As far as stability, it has never given me any problem or indication that it was weak at all; rock solid at all times, however, I am not one to OC so others may have different opinions.
I tend to shop for boards based on the my personal theory that if the board that holds up well when cranked to 11 it should hold up even better when operated at stock speeds. I also select boards based on their reputation in the industry. Brand names such as ASUS, Abit, Aopen, Epox, Gigabyte, MSI and iWill have established themselves quite well with builders who demand quality and performance from their systems. iWill is sort of a new kid on the block and I have only used one, but it was unquestionably solid right out of the box.
I have a good comfort level with all of the above manufactures and I am sure my next one will be a board from that list. Go with MSI if you like what you see, but remember that every manufacture will have a bad board now and then and it will always be a dice roll; however, the odds will be largely in your favor as long as you stay with a reputable brand.
