Is it too late for me to rent a tuxedo? My prom is next Saturday. Anyone have any advice?

UPDATE: I got it. It's a pretty nice one and I got it on a special deal for $50. Not bad...

The answer is probably, but you still have to see what shops have what. I found a shop to turn a tux order around for me overnight a while back, but YMMV.

you can still get one. i once had a date bail on me, so i asked a friend to go with me to a dance that was in three days, and he got a tux. you may need to pay a little more if they have to do any sort of alterations to make it fit though for the rush.

It varies, but usually around this time they run specials to compete with each other for the prom/formal market--so you should be able to find good deals :) (under 50 I'd say can get a nice tuxedo)

Specials????? Every year I went the stores went on pricing wars the wrong way. They know that everyone needs a tux for Prom, no matter the cost. I spent well over $100 for each tux.

I dont see why it would be too late? Just go to a place that rents them and get one fitted.

It'll be hard, but it depends on your area...around here, there are so many high schools, that when it's prom season, every place is booked up.

Ask around, see if you have any friends that work at one of the tux shops...I did/do, and he hooks me up all the time. :)

why not waste time asking us on here if its too late instead of cracking open the yellow pages and calling around?

most rental places stock MORE then enough tux's... and even though its prom season - they can still usually make adjustments in as little as 2 days... but you will prob pay a premium

Most rental places (A) get the tux you want from a catalog and (B) have slightly dated tuxes in stock. You are too late for option (A). Option (B) you can get at any time of any day. Even an hour before the event is fine. You might not get much selection though as you have to take what others didn't want.

I typically spend $60-$75 on a tuxedo.

Depends on your size. If you're a common size, you stand a better chance of getting one in stock. If you're excessively large/small, it could be a different story.

My tuxes have been over $100. I expected to pay $50 or so, but nothing was that cheap!

Im sure your local Mesn Warehouse has something you could get. They may not have everything in stock but I bet they got something that looks good. Besides, its hard to look bad in a tux.

EDIT: Expect to pay $100+. At least I always did whenever I needed to rent a tux
