Is it time to start thinking about buying SATA hard drives?

NEver seemed like a good idea in the past due to the difficulty in configuring them with new system installs and the lack of any speed advantage...but it's been a while since I checked. Have things gotten any better for SATA? I am about to buy a new drive and I see that most of the drives on Newegg are SATA now.

Well, it's not like the hard drives are saturating the ATA133 bandwidth, let alone ATA100. But typically all the ATA hard drives are of lower quality now. So if you want I nice hard drive you have to get SATA.

Many new mobos also only have the one PATA channel and about 8 SATA channels. May as well go SATA.

The current PATA drives are the same as their SATA counterparts. The warranties are the same, the drive mechanicals are the same. Only difference are the chipsets and of course the connectors to enable SATA connections. I would go with SATA if only for the thin cables. But SATA is still more expensive than PATA.

Ok, well I went with the Maxtor Diamondmax 10 with 16MB cache and SATA-150. Hopefully it won't be a bitch to set up on my NF-2 mobo...and if it is, you guys are going to be getting a bunch of PM's for help ;)

I don't have a large case, but I like the cables better too.
