My quest for real answers. Is it time to upgrade from my socket 604 dual xeon?

depends on what you do. if you do CAD work (which i imagine you must) then you should upgrade if you need the speed. unless you're doing CPU intensive work and really need all the speed you can get, i don't think you need to upgrade.
