What do you mean by spitting out? Can't play DVDs, can't burn DVDs, just doesn't like DVDs?

it is one of the pioneer slot loading dvd-roms and when i put in a movie, it usually just spits it back out. data dvds and cds seem to work fine.

Try a Benq 1620 - pretty inexpensive and the guys at the CDFreaks forums rate it one of the best. I bought one for $65 at MicroCenter and it has worked flawlessly, plus you get the full working version of Nero Vision Express 2.

;) good drive suggestions teddyv and theman.

@bob4432, it is very likely that your A06 is "getting old" and experiencing reading problems late in life. (like my grandparents).
It's always fun to upgrade. :D
