Have the prices on AMD CPU's stablized. I read where the new prices were effective today. Do I need to wait another week?

you could wait all you want...the fact is that prices keep falling...so it just depends on your decision

a 1.4 for 108 bucks...that's a good deal....true...the palomino's will be out in a few weeks...and there will be a price drop...but it won't be something significant...for palomino prices will be high (not p4 high)...but compared to a tbird.

Buy now and don't look back. If you wait for the best price drop, you will NEVER upgrade! Look at what you truly need, then look at what you can afford, then go for it! But like heffe said a little over a $100 for a 1.4 gig, it's just too sweet. Beside you never know when silicon valley will blow up or something and then the prices will skyrocket. Kinda like ram when an earthquake hits Taiwan or something. ;)

I'd wait a bit and get a Palomino. I don't think they will be priced that much higher than the T-bird, just the usually premium for the fastest CPU of the line. I would bet that a 1.53Ghz Pally won't be more than $20 more than a 1.4Ghz T-bird. That's because the average person doesn't know that it's using a new core design and much faster, they just know that more Mhz is good. But the other people make a good point: If you keep waiting for new technology or lower prices, you'll never upgrade.

Tempting prices for sure, but I'd wait till Palomino hits the streets. Prices for the 266fsb T-birds will really plummet (I hope).

I agreed fully with this statement...why wait?
