That computer isn't bad at all, but you can get a decent computer in the $500 range I'm sure which would blow your current system out of the water.

Unless you game or use a program that needs a lot of Processing Power why bother?

LOL, I got all of you beat! :p

I'm posting from my notebook. Big deal right? For me it is because I have to MSTC all the way home! Look at the path:

First we connect through the ship's LAN up to this goes up to space, comes back to a station to get converted to ground based WAN and gets priority routed here and finally to a Terminal Server. What a clusterfvck.

I cannot access a lot of websites directly, for example. So without all this other stuff going on, this post would not exist. :)

Cheers!

p.s. McAfee is a turd!

I would say it depends on your needs and your budget, if your pc is fast enough for what you do, then you don't need an upgrade, if not, then you need to figure out what your budget would be for said upgrade.

Options in order of preference:

1. Get a new Dell, cost depends on how serious you are about games.

2. Build a new computer, cost depends on how serious are about games. I usually only recommend this option to enthusiasts.

3. Upgrade the motherboard, cpu, RAM, and video card. Cost depends on how serious you are about games. There maybe an issue with how proprietary Dell's case is..

4. Get a new video card and max out the RAM, see option 3.

Your rig isn't that bad.

My computer is an AMD Athlon 1.2GHz with a 32MB TNT2 Ultra video card.

Just upgrade the video card and max out your RAM...cheaper that way. :D
He's on SDR SDRAM - don't put any more money into that crap, it's too outdated. Get a new motherboard that supports DDR SDRAM, at least. Depending on which socket configuration your P4 is, you may need a new CPU as well.

its a dell 4300... u think I need a new CPU? how much does a decent computer run for anyyways? (if you built your own)

~$500-$600.
