Is it this simple for just this much?

Well, I have now officially overclocked for the first time ever. All I did was turn the multiplier up from 11 to 12. Now I am running at 1600. I want to get 1700 and stop there. Just bump the multiplier one more time and that is it? Anything else to touch or do? Any precautions other than heat?(ie bus speeds, voltage, etc) I set my alarm for the cpu heat from 75 to 60 as well so I will know if anything starts to go bad. Is it really this easy?

Also, I am currently at 52 idle with a hot room,no case fans and generic heatsink/fan.

If you are going to overclock atleast get a good Heatsink/fan and if your case is fanless get some lowrpm fans (if you can't stand noise) that will atleast create a flow of air to keep your system cool 🙂

A good Heatsink will run ~ 30 and 2-3 case fans shouldn't be more than 12-16

You're a little hot right now so take the side off the case if yo plan on playing games or cranking it up cause you just started on the long open highway and prolly won't turn back as the addiction creeps so easily in 😉

Well I meant 1700ish or higher 😛 Basically if I could get XP 2100+ speeds I would be extremely satisfied for a while. I plan on finding a new case but not sure what to go for. I sold a TI4600 to a friend for a good deal and might use that money for case/good cooling solution. Are all the Lian Li cases good quality or are the ones that are $110ish not worth it?

Also, I have the side of my case off already. Would putting the cover back on it immediately jump the temp up 5 to 10c?

Fluxcap, all Lian-Li cases are very good quality. The differences in price usually reflect different features, etc...

Yes, I just read every thread about Lian-Li cases on the cases forum. 🙂 I really want one !! Maybe the PC60 and an sk7 for the heatsink. What is the best budget fan to stick on the sk7?

I know TN BUT you know how unhappy I am with that "coffin" of a case !!

So besides adjusting the multiplier should I bump up the bus speed as well? anyone?
