With intel planning on releasing the peryn soon would I be foolish to buy a new laptop now? Im looking at spending 7-1K on a new laptop. I know C2d's are the best right now but is the time right. I currently have a toshiba SAT with 1gb ddr2 and a intel pentium M. I can do everything I need right now ut it starting to lose it's speed. What can I wsay I just dont love her anymore LoL 2 and a half years was good but the design is a eye soor compared to the new HP's and Viaos.

Ahh the old laptop waiting game.

Technically it's never a good time to buy a new laptop because something new ALWAYS comes out right after you buy one.

My theory on laptop purchases is, wait until you absolutely need it if having the best is your thing. The thing to remember about laptops is you must be happy of your purchase. If you aren't happy then you will always regret buying the one you did.

I say go for a laptop now if you need it now. As there has been no official release date for the new CPU's except for Apple AFAIK (which is like 6th of Jan 08)

+1

cpu's are evolving too fast. Penryn will come out soon, and after that nefl, and then something else. If you play the waiting game, you'll never get a laptop.

SSD drives are coming in the market too, and other things. Just get one when you absolutely need one. Thats all there is, because short of changing cpu, ram, and hard drive. Thats about all you can upgrade on a laptop.

If you only have $700-$1000 to spend, you're better off buying now - when Penryn comes out, it could blow your budget. Or, rather, when do you need this laptop? If you can live without it for now, then wait - if not, get it now.
