is it still rude to call during the "dinner hour"?

I was taught not to call between 6 and 7. but people eat dinner at all kinds of krazy times so does it really matter?

Nah that's crap. Who knows when the dinner hour is! My dad used to get pissed off, but people eat at such different times that it's impossible to know when they're calling.

I agree. Now telemarketers are a different story; Die scum! It isn't neccessarily rude to leave the table to answer the phone. Even my grandparents do it.

It is very annoying though...I don't consider myself uptight but I personally can't stand it when I'm eating with somebody and they get up to answer the phone. That's what answering machines are for. If it's an emergency they'll keep calling. They can wait.

Agreed. I won't get up to answer the phone if I'm eating alone, much less if I have guests. The phone is not an emergency; if it is an emergency, I'll hear them leave a message on the machine.

With people my age, I call any time between 9am-10pm for business, or if I know them well enough to hang out with them, 11am-12am. (This is because none of my friends go to bed before 12, but few of them wake up before 10:30)

With older people, I call any time between 9am-9pm.

yes and no, my dad hates it, i just dont answer the phone
i know people that take it off the hook during dinner
