Is it still necessary to install AMD Dual-Core Optimizer and/or drivers?

So yeah, im going to be formatting and reinstalling WindowsXP Professional, but im trying to find out what drivers and applications are obsolete or have been replaced. I have no clue if its still necessary to install the AMD Dual-Core Optimizer, since it was last updated November of 2006. If so, do I also need the AMD Driver too? Or vise versa (ala just the AMD Driver, but no Optimization)?

Thanks in advance, was just wondering to make sure I try and make this reinstall as stable as possible (especially gaming).

Yup, install the AMD driver first, then the Dual core Optimizer and you're good to go!

Ok, thanks for the confirmation. Decided to do this Sunday, since theres stuff to be done before I can format.

Is it still necessary to modify the registry to manually add the "CPU-throttle" key? Or just by installing the CPU driver, then the dual core optimizer I am set?
