it's almost the same thing, except for a win98 system to access files on win2000 system, you need to enable the guest account on win2000.

Oh yea, you'll be fine. I suggest you force the Win2k machine to be the browser master for file sharing, though. Or just turn off both machines and boot the new Win2k system first.

Guest Account heh? I didn't know that, I created an account on my W2K "Server" for every user that would need to access it from either W2K machines or W98 machines...Oh well, you learn stuff all the time I 'spose :D

File sharing is a whole new ballpark.

Win98 may have trouble reading long folder names, resulting in your w2k shared folders not appearing to w98 users. It has to do with the length of the folder name. W2k has an option where you can set a name for the shared folder without chaning the name of the folder on your w2k system.

You also need to create user accounts for EACH user that logs in, unless you are running a server/client network as opposed to a peer-to-peer network.

I've been trying to network my Win2k to my Win98. I can see my win98 machine on win2k and also access it's files, but the win98 just won't find my win2k machine. oh well.... guess I haven't put to much time into it.

If you are running a peer-to-peer network, they need to be on the same workgroup. Try changing the workgroup names so they are all the same.
