Do you think it would be safe to overclock my AMD 3000 winchestor on a stock retail fan? I want to get it at 2.6 ghz. Its running at 39 celsius while playing games. thanks already

I have seen them go to 2.6ghz...The chances of doing it with winchesters of later fab dates say that this may be a tall order. Many just are not hitting that speed anymore regardless of heat...If the cpu is capable of it, and does not need more then 1.55v you can conceiveably do it with a retail stock cooler (providing you have adequate case cooling)...Good luck...

Never hurts to try and if heat becomes a factor(+60c load) and you think the cpu has more left then you can always get a better cooler...

I am running 2.5Ghz :) on my stock HSF and Winchester 3000+. My temps at idle are 44*C and max load report 62*C, but I am using an Abit AV8 mobo that is known to report temps 12*C too high :( , so my real temp is probably only 32*C at idle and 50C* at max load @ 2.5Ghz :) . I touch the HS and it is only warm when the abit mobo reports the 62*C.

2.6Ghz might be a stretch, but you should be able to reach 2.4-2.5Ghz without much difficulty on the 3000+ Winie, Good Luck!!!!!! :) :) :)
