Is it safe to use a charcoal grill on a wood deck?

Or are we supposed to use those gas grills instead? I like the charcoal grills because of the smokey barbarque favor it imparts on the food...

i dont see why not. How often would a coal even fall out or something? Never, and even then it wouldnt start a fire.

Just make sure you keep the ash pan under the bottom of it. My parents have a few scorch marks in their deck from where a little ember fell onto the deck, but it was never anything enought to actually do much besides leave a black spot on the wood.
