Is it safe to use 19V 6.7A adapter in place of a 19V 4.7A one?

The original adapter for my laptop which is 19V 4.7A output just died. Only adapter readily available is a 19V 6.7A adapter. Will it be safe for the laptop to use ? thanks.

It is in general safe to use, but you should keep an eye on the battery if the quality isn't that great the battery might heat up more than it should if it draws more power,normally laptops are protected against that.

Yes, the amperage rating is the maximum the power adapter Can tolerate. The current draw is determined by the load and voltage which is the same as the original.

What is important is the voltage is the same and the current (amperage) rating is equal or greater than the original.
