is it safe to rename one partition w/ programs installed?

Hi.


I just want to know if it's safe to rename the volume label name on my D partition? It's currently named MP3, i want to change it to Programs. I'm using Windows XP Home SP2. thanks.

Changing the Volume Label will have no effect on programs or the OS. Its mearly a feature for users to easily distiguish between the purposes of various partitions.

Changing the drive letter is a different story though.
