is it safe to push 1.475vcore in bios?

just wondering... its within intel spec, but has anyone done it under air cooling and in the Bios?

Anything greater than 1.45 on air is crazy, IMHO. You'll burn your chip up in no time.

If you look at the quad overclock thread you'll find that no one is doing more than 1.45 without water cooling, and for good reason.

I'd also like to add that I'm not sure how 1.475 is within Intel spec. The highest stock VID on a Q6600 is 1.325.

Louissssssssssss,
Q6600 GO I'm assuming @ 3.55 Ghz, 1.32v on a Freezer Pro. Is this bios, CPUZ idle, or CPUZ load voltage? If this is bios volts that's one hell of a chip. I thought I had a great chip since it will do 3.60 Ghz @ 1.3575v bios. What's your load temps and is it Prime95/Orthos Small FFts (at least 6 hr) stable at this setting?
What settings are you running your ram at?

1.475 in bios could be alright especially if the board undervolts significantly....

Go into bios and as long as idle vcore is less then 1.45v you will be fine....

My asus p5b-deluxe with a quad required a high bios vcore just to get to 1.4v at idle and then loaded to 1.36v under load....actual is worth more then "set"...

your board, the DS3R is known to have one of the worst vdroops out of all the boards. Also why i recomend the DS3P and DQ6 as well as the DS4 over it.

So 1.475 = 1.425-1.43 Which should safe providing your not loading her too much and you have great fans on your monster heatsink.

Just keep the temps in check tho.

so which of the voltages is my proc running at? 1.475 in the BIOS? is that what my temps will reflect?

i'll hopefully have a tuniq tower with their stock fan and a delta 120x38mm @ 3200rpm right behind it as an exhaust

you'll get a lot of mixed answers for this question.

The hardcore overclockers say you can never trust software or bios. You need to use a multimeter directly on it.

For me, i go with software. The newest CPU-Z will tell you fairly ballpark where your real Vcore is sitting at. If you set your bios @ 1.475 after vdroop the real vcore is like 1.42-1.47 depending on some boards.

Download the newest version of CPU-Z and load her up and watch the voltage on it.

i have the latest cpu-z 1.42 and i trust software too. i'm at 1.36 in bios and its giving me 1.328 in cpu-z...

Then 1.328 is your current Vcore.

Aigo - what is your experience/expectation for Vdroop on a D3SL?

Honestly I'd be interested in hearing any and all your thoughts on D3SL, for better or for worse.
