Is it safe to hot plug/unplug monitor/lcd dsub connection ?

I have 2 comp side by side and currently just using one monitor.
Can I power off the monitor, unplug the connection from one comp and plug it in to another comp, turn on the monitor ?
Is it safe ? (without shutting down/restart comp)

Should be fine for a temporary soulution, but you should fix that problem soon...eventually something bad will happen, like monitor pins breaking off etc.
