I know there is no use to defragment a SSD. But a lot of new laptops that I manage have a small mSATA SSD, and a 500GB SATA drive.

Is it safe to defragment them? I cant seem to find anything about it.

If it's an Intel Smart Response disk, you can defrag it - the OS should recognize the cache drive and leave it alone, just defragging the HDD.

If the HDD and SSD are separate volumes, then there's no reason not to defrag the HDD.

But you shouldn't need to defrag under most circumstances anyway, HDD or not.

They are new Lenovo T430U's. You only see the HDD, never the SSD. Only place I can seem to find anything about it is in the BIOS.
