Is it safe? Running comp 24/7 with open case

Hey all, simple straight forward question...

Is it safe to let the computer run 24/7 with the side panel off?
My place is fairly dust free and clean, not dust clumps surfing around in the wind...

Any of you running their comps with an open case?

3 big questions if the answer is yes to any of these then no it's not safe

do you have pets? (I could not leave the side off my case a cat *would* wander in)

do you get inebriated heavily in anyway whether booze prescription meds or other drugs?

and is your computer in stumbling/foot reach of where you walk/sit?

cause remember without a side on the case all it takes is one single mistake and you could wreck a lot of components

if say your computer is off the floor with nothing around it so you won't be inclined to reach over/past it and you have no pets then I don't really see too much of a problem with it...though i'm not sure what issues insects could cause but a lot of them could get in regardless of case sides so that would probably not be a consideration...basically the problem is less dust..you can always clean dust it's not going to instantly kill your computer...but more larger objects that will instantly kill your computer

Basically what Chaoticlusts said, as long as there isn't anything that would physically damage the parts its perfectly safe. I have a "server" paperclipped to a cardboard box on the floor.

Ever imagine that your new kitten gets scared and runs into your open computer case while the computer is on and just up on your video card and stand in the fan? Yeah that happened. I could no believe the horror. I dove for the power button and yeah, everyone survived.

Pets + open PC case = heart attack.

lmao yeah that's why I kept my case side on..hell I ended up having to lock the damn thing out of the room when I was had my case open on the floor fiddling with components it kept trying to jump in and help 😛

given cats will generally explore any little crevasse they can get into in their homes at least once open cases=trouble waiting to happen

glad to hear your kitten was fine though..damn they can be worrysome little buggers

Hahahh no cat here though.
Wow your cats are curious hehehh!

The only thing is that my case is at 18 inches from me and on the desk not on the floor. I'm gonna reconfigure my desk though and the case should be at least 2 feets from me.

I'm simply asking cause I just got the Cooler Master CM690 II Adv and it's quite the beauty in there with the cable management and the black interior. It's quite nice to look at heheh!

But your point about the passively cooled SB/NB is very valid...gonna think about it.

The good thing is compared to my older case (a V770 something) my temp dropped 3-4 degrees on the CPU, GPU and ambiant.
