Is it safe just to hook up a mobo & components to a PSU sitting on a desk?

Hey all,

I've got a refurb mobo I need to test out tonight before NewEgg's return policy expires. Here's my idea: I'm going to set my LanBoy on the desk, open the case, and run the power cables to the mobo with video card & CPU installed to test it out; also going to hook up an old HDD and load Windows.

are there any issues I should be aware of with a mobo just sitting on a wooden desk? I would imagine grounding wouldn't apply seeing as wood isn't conductive :p

Thanks in advance!!

Just be sure to clear out all items that might conduct electricity. Also make sure all cards you install are seated securely and won't wiggle around or it could short something out. Shouldn't be a problem if you're careful.
