Is it rude to ...

hang up on telemarketers? I picked up the phone just when the answering-machine did and unfortunately the feedback started getting loud. She was talking, and I hung up (if I had said anything it would have started squealing) ... since she was on the answering machine I heard her say "you hung up .... god, some people have no respect. No respect." You're calling me at 6:45 at night asking me about some market-research and I have no respect?

I had one tell me that she had to keep trying to sell me as long as I stayed on the phone. So, to not waste their time, I hang up on them as soon as possible.

I hang up almost immediately before they go on their rant. They are the rude ones. You never asked to be called and they should get use to the fact 99% of the people don't want them calling.

Soon as I know it's a telemarketer, I hang up. Fvck them. I didn't ask them to take a job cold-calling me to bug me about some product I don't want. I feel no remorse.

I especially hate it when they have a computer dial the number for them, so I'm greeted with "Please wait while we direct your call"....WTF!
Direct my call? Give me a break, I didn't ask to be directed to a damn telemarketer, who would be? Are these people that dumb to think we actually want to talk to telemarketers let alone wait to be directed!??!!?

I've let it go through a couple times to be greeted by telemarketers, plus, I don't have bills to pay, so I'm fine. 😛

What I really like is when the leave messages on my machine. Sometimes they're recordings, sometimes it's an actual person! "Hello Nohr! Sorry I missed you, but I'd thought you'd like to know that we're in your area..." etc.

Things have calmed down quite a bit since getting on the donotcall list, though I still get recordings from 'non-profit' debt relief companies. They say they're non-profit so they're not restricted by the donotcalllist, but if they really were WTF are they calling me?!

This person obviously does not know the meaning of the word RESPECT!!!! Why would I give some perfect stranger any respect??? Respect is earned and you dont earn it by calling me at my home when I did not ask you too!

If I pick it up and hear dead air for a few seconds and then a voice, I know it's a telemarketer and I hang up.

I usually just set the phone down and come back to hang it up 10-15 minutes later.

I usually check back every 5 minutes...."hold on they are coming", "oh wait, it looks like he just drove up".....I like to hear their responses
😉

i usually get hung up on. as soon as i say im not interested they hang up. which tends to piss me off even more.

Its not rude but if you want to be have fun with them, act like you are very old or something. Huh whats that, can you speak a little louder, I said can you speak a little louder...........

Caller ID

If it's a # I don't know...right to the machine.
