Is it rude to say"pick up the phone" when you leave a msg on someone's voice mail?

I called this chick a while ago, and she picked up the first few times, but the day of the date she never picked the phone. So i got pretty pissed and said something like " hey its blah blah we were supposed to go do blah blah, so can you please pickup the phone" i said it in a light kinda way. She or I have never called since so at least i didnt waste time with the b!tch.

Yeah, I tell people all the time to pick up their phone because they suck at hearing/feeling their phone go off.

Very few people have the old school answering machine where you hear the message live, you know.

Voicemail is not an answering machine. Someone with "voicemail" cannot hear your message as you say it. I love it. If I'm on the phone and someone calls, it goes right to voicemail. When I get off the phone, I check my messages and the dumbass is sitting there for five minutes going "HALLAO? YEW THAR? PICK UP YER PHONE YA'LL. ... HALLAO? I KNOW YOU'S LISTNIN..."

:p

So.. you know this girl, and she actually agrees to go out on a date with you. So you call her again and again and again.. ("she picked up the first few times"), and when the date finally rolls around, she's so goddamned sick of your stalking, desperate behavior that she blows you off as utterly not worth her time? And at that point you leave what could be considered a rude message on her voicemail?

Damn. You deserved what you got.

no. I called her twice within 1 week of getting her number. Then the day of the date i call again and nada, trust me, iam not that desperate, Iam already visiting another chick that i met this week, not even going on a date, Iam coming over to her house to see some "huge projection screen they got installed."

Actually, my new house phone/voice machine combo has a "call screening" feature where you can hear the message while they are recording. I think this is with most answering machines.

Not sure why you would tell someone to pick up the phone on a cell phone, however...? Although, I did have a cellphone one time where it had a built-in answering machine and you could listen while they recorded; that was kind of cool.

I'd say "If you're there, I really need to talk to you" or something like that. Sounds less demanding.

Well if it's voicemail, that's just dumb. If it's an answering machine... depends.

Same idea really. Since a lot of people filter their messages right after they get them and may or may not admit to "being there".
