Ive been sending off resumes all day today, and now that I have a few more prepared for various places I am anxious to send them off. Is it rude to fax them off tonight? Or should I cool my horses and wait until tomorrow.

Not rude at all ... shows that at least you're not doing it from your current job's machine :p

Who still uses fax? Wouldn't they prefer e-mail?
They probably just scan your fax anyway, for entry into a database used to search by keywords.

except I have a fax machine at home, so I guess I dont have to worry about that. Who sends out resumes from work?

I am applying to places within the medical field and most of the ads I am responding to request a faxed resume.

The fax machine in our office is used to collect stock market SPAM.

Some of us use it for odd random things... but it mostly sits there neglected.

It's not rude but here's why i wouldn't do it (actually i wouldn't fax at all b/c they're all emailed now, but back in the day) :

this is actually when most people send their resumes (either when classes are out or when job's done). there's going to be a stack of them throughout the course of the night and a good chance yours will be at the bottom or caught in the middle. send it out first thing in the morning to give it a better chance of being on the top. HR usually sorts through that stack when they come in.
