Diwali also known as Deepavali and the "festival of lights", is an ancient Hindu festival celebrated in autumn every year.

Weird.
So either a whole bunch of Hindi's moved into town this year, or last year none of them felt like putting up lights.

Hmm, since I never took down the Christmas lights from the front door I guess I can turn them on tonight. Any particular foods we should be pigging upon?

I need to actually install my Christmas lights, I usually try to do it in like September before it gets too cold but it's been raining so much. I'm hoping to do it before it snows. it's easier to just climb on the roof and do it. Takes me like 5 minutes if I can do it that way. No going up and down to move the ladder. I typically put the tree up and start turning the lights by the last week of November. I sometimes go like 2 weeks into January, but I usually play it by ear. When I'm one of the few houses left with lights on, then I stop turning them on.

I did the mistake of leaving the lights up all summer, but then they all faded. The reds turn to pink, but an inconsistent pink throughout the whole house. I ended up grinding the paint off those bulbs to use as whites. I'm not cheap, I just hate to waste. :p

Well that explains it! Saw a bunch of houses yesterday with what appeared to be Christmas lights and I thought WTF, already?!

Lots of Indians around here
