Is it proper to wear a tux with bowtie but no cumberbund?

I have a formal dinner on Monday night to go to and I really hate wearing cumberbunds, not to mention that they're ugly as hell. However, since I'll be sporting my tux, is it alright to not wear one? or does a bowtie always go with one?

Yes. You can substitute a vest for the cummerbund.

yeah, i think that's the proper way... u have to have the vest if u choose not to wear a cumberbund (i think they look retarded as well.)
