Is it pretty ghetto to have your water heater and washer/dryer outside of the house?

Washer and dryer don't appear to be hooked up.

While I wouldn't care to have the water heater on the back "porch," for many places that don't get close to freezing...it's not a bad option

I would put the water heater in on of those enclosures but otherwise its fine outside. I've seen many tankless installs hung on a wall on the back/side of the home.

I don't know if it's ghetto when it's not easily seen, like in the picture. Corrugated fiberglass roofing is though.

And in colder climates, seems like having the water heater outside could be fairly inefficient.

I've never even heard of putting the water heater outdoors. Seems like humidity, dust, and other wind borne particulates might gum up the works in it eventually. Maybe not though. *shrug*

now that i think about it i remember visiting family in NM and seeing stuff like this often.

I visited my dad in California and his washer and dryer were outdoors. I thought it was a bit weird, being from Minnesota, but I suppose it never gets cold enough for that to be an issue.

I've seen several of houses with water heaters outside. But it's usually the smaller houses where people don't want the water heater to take up space inside. But then again, those houses I've seen look all ghetto rigged together.
