I have created some home movies using Windows Movie Maker. Is it possible to write them to a CDR in a format that will allow them to be played on any standard DVD player ? My goal is to show my digital pictures / movies to someone who has no computer, just a DVD player.

Comments and guidance appreciated.

Depends if your dvd will support such formats... It's usually the low-end cheapo dvd players that support vcd, mp3 etc...

Yeah, just make it into a VCD or SVCD when you burn the disc

Is that something I can do with Windows Movie Maker or do I need some other software to do that ?

I have never worked with video editing before, sorry about the Newbie question !

can your dvd play home burned/copied audio disks?

if not ~ it cant play vcd/svcd.

get a better home dvd player that supports all computer formats.

See if the DVD player plays "Picture CD" format disks, or ISO9660-format discs full of .JPG pictures.

To find out of this information go to http://www.videohelp.com/ . I still remember the site as vcdhelp.com but it has changed its name a bunch. You can look up all the information on your DVD player and how to make the appropriate vcd's.

Good luck,
