Is it possible to use XEON MPs in regular (dual) xeon boards?

I don't think I understand the question...are you asking if you can use dual-processor capable processors in a dual-processor board?

No.

XEON MPs are a slightly different flavor of the XEON processor - more cache, some architechture differences to make it more hyper-parallel compatible (more than 4?8? processors).

I'd believe that they are different enough that the MPs wouldn't work in a standard Xeon dual/quad/etc MOBO.

I could be wrong, but that's the impression I got from the little I've read about 'em.

FWIW

Hmm fry a 3k processor?

Ok, If I actually had one I probably would;ve tried it by now.

I saw a couple on pricewatch go for only 500 or so.

I was just curious If I could shove them into a dual board (Serverworks LE variant)

I need a new workstation (Juwing along on a dual I840 board)

Intel doesn;t mention their compatable (MPS) on their website for usage in dual boards.

It actually seems explicit.

I was just curious if anyone tried.
